I’m replying to the group since this may effect more members.I have a space in the Oklahoma State University’s Farmers Market here in Oklahoma City.I started there in May of ‘07 and work it once a week. When I began I didn’t tag any items because I was experimenting with pricing per demographic. Now I get $15-$25 per hat and string market bags go for $10 each or 3 for $25. I’ve sold a few afghans[5-6] but most people are not prepared to spend $100-$150 for 1 item. Don’t get me wrong they comment on how low the price is for all the work but just don’t have that amount budgeted. Most of the afghans I sold were sold weeks after the buyer first fell in love with it.This winter baby sets were a hit and plenty of gloves and fingerless gloves too. I always have a great selection of bookmarkers, dishtowels and some plastic canvas book holder items using small pieces of yarn leftovers.Ladies sweater sets went well if in a XL or 1X size since pretty ones were hard to find in stores here. Lastly if you work pretty fast be prepared to do special orders as I get 3-5 each week. I have labels made through Miles Kimball catalog and business cards and magnets from Vista , people love the professional aspect.I also have postcards and envelopes preprinted that I can write down what they liked on the back of the card and then they can mail it back to me with the deposit. On the printed front it states I have 2-6 weeks to deliver finished product which gives me enough time so no one gets antsy.I hope this helps any and all who are considering marketing their work. Crocheting is not my hobby it’s my talent and Passion!!!!!!!!!!!!If anyone has questions feel free to email me privately…Nannyherr crochetingandpraying@cox.net

Now I would like to add to this lady’s brilliant ideas with some of my own from experience: if you can crochet wire jewelry, do so…people love that…mittens of all sizes, gloves, booties, slippers and placemats along with coasters and cotton made washcloths with the pretty white or off white edging..another day I will write all about edging, but that is my two cents along with this lady’s great advice for now!

I do a little crocheting but never have sold anything Im not that good but I enjoy makeing afgans for myself and they are alot of work so I know what you mean about people not wanting to pay alot for them but they do not know how much time and work is put into them not counting the love of doing the work itself. I hope your business turns into a big sucess and you sell alot of your items. I bet they are beautiful. I went to your website and I loved it! I want to add it to my regular blogs, but am not quite sure how yet, I know I will figure it out soon though! I especially loved the “Smart dog” post and the fashion pics and the funny pic of the dog with it’s huge ears blowing in the wind! Let’s keep in touch,ok? And thank you for introducing me to your site and commenting here.
    Sincerely,
